Dear 25YL Readers: A Letter from the Editor in Chief

I know I’ve shared this story a million times but it’s worth repeating. The idea for 25YL came to me because I was excited about the return of Twin Peaks. I was reading John Thorne’s excellent book, ‘The Essential Wrapped in Plastic: Pathways to Twin Peaks’ and remembered how much I loved really loved deep analysis into this world. I wanted to contribute to these kinds of conversations and to keep the conversation alive. I was sitting on the floor with my son, then a toddler, playing toys and the idea for this site started to play out in my head. I imagined creating the website dedicated to Twin Peaks that a younger version of myself had longed for. Theories, analysis, interviews, explorations into the books and so much more. I started work on this dream project that day and haven’t looked back since.

That was almost 2 years ago to the day, although it feels like a lot longer in some ways and a lot less time in others. My dream of a Twin Peaks site that had everything a fan would want became a reality but the desire to build and do more never slowed down. Here we are today, launching our brand new website which is a gigantic leap forward for us. We’ve been slowly expanding our content for a long time now, branching out into other shows and films, but here on our newly redesigned site, my hope is that my vision for our future finally begins to shine through.

What we did for Twin Peaks in terms of building that site that has all the content a fan would want and providing a place to keep the conversation and love of the fandom alive, we’re going to be doing for other fandoms and genres. We want to be that place where you can find content to enjoy about numerous shows, films, fandoms and genres that you love, a place where you can converse with people just as passionate as you. 25YL by design should be where you come to find that level of analysis passionate fans of any content type want and have those meaningful conversations with people who feel the same as you. We’re going to take the model used to build our Twin Peaks site and extend it to many genres and fandoms and celebrate that passion here.

Our promise to our readers is to provide you with the best analysis possible on any show or film we write about. We will be extending beyond our written articles over time, starting with fun things like quizzes and polls, which we will regularly update and will be made for numerous shows, films, fandoms and genres. Our Forums or “Message Boards” will be an extension of what our social media has been, only now you can better focus on the conversations that mean the most to you.

This is just the beginning. We want our site to be a place where you come and stay awhile. We want to provide an experience here and we will be constantly adding to that experience. My hope is that people come to the site for one type of content, hear about a show or film they’ve always wanted to watch and then find high-quality content and conversation here to enjoy after they’ve watched that show or film.

In closing, we never would’ve made it this far and launching this beautiful new website if it weren’t for the people who have supported us for almost 2 years now. You know who you are and I couldn’t thank you enough. From building the best Twin Peaks site possible to expanding into additional TV and Film to today—our biggest step forward yet—we’ve accomplished a lot in a little amount of time. I couldn’t be more proud and more grateful. I’m going to keep dreaming big and I hope you enjoy this ride with us.
