Coming Soon In Theaters: Fantasy Island

Reimaginings of older television shows have been in and out of style for decades now. The popular 1970s television vehicles of yesteryear, however, have been excellent fodder as of late, with a spoofier CHiPs released in 2017 and a new take on Charlie’s Angels coming out this weekend. To add to the ’70s-remake fun is Sony and Blumhouse’s horror adaptation of the Ricardo Montalbán and Hervé Villechaize starring genre drama Fantasy Island.

Produced by Jason Blum (Get Out, Us) and directed by Jeff Wadlow (Kick-Ass 2, Truth or Dare), Fantasy Island looks to amp up the seedier sides of the television show with increasingly horrific situations and dire consequences. Filling in for Montalbán in this version is the equally charismatic Michael Peña (Ant-Man, Dora the Explorer). Maggie Q (Mission: Impossible III), Lucy Hale (Scream 4), and Michael Rooker (Guardians of the Galaxy) also appear.

The synopsis for the film:

“In Blumhouse’s new spin on Fantasy Island, the enigmatic Mr. Roarke makes the secret dreams of his lucky guests come true at a luxurious but remote tropical resort. But when the fantasies turn into nightmares, the guests have to solve the island’s mystery in order to escape with their lives. “

Fantasy Island will be released in theaters on February 14th, 2020. Follow news and developments on the film’s official website, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. #FantasyIslandMovie #NeverComingHome
