John Turturro Cast As Carmine Falcone In The Batman

The cast list for Matt Reeves forthcoming movie, The Batman, is starting to fill out nicely. Along with Robert Pattinson in the title role, we now know that Paul Dano with be playing Riddler, Andy Serkis will be Alfred, Zoe Kravitz will be taking on Catwoman, and Colin Farrell is in talks to play Penguin. It’s looking like being a star heavy movie and that was added to yesterday when the director confirmed, on Twitter, that John Turturro had been signed up to play crime boss Carmine Falcone.

This is great news as Turturro is, in this writer’s opinion, one of the best actors of his generation and should quite easily be able to bring the character of Falcone to life with the perfect amount of menace that such a villain deserves.

There is also a good chance that with Turturro on board, we’re likely to see Falcone as more of a central character in the story, as opposed to being just a fringe player.

Turturro is a veteran actor with almost four decades of experience in film and television, best known for The Big Lebowski, O Brother, Where Art Thou?, Secret Window, and two Transformers movies; Dark of the Moon and The Last Knight. Turturro also plays lawyer, John Stone, in the excellent and underrated HBO series, The Night Of.

The Batman is due in US cinemas on 25 June 2021.
