Get Yourself Some and Get On Down With The Allergies

Music to put a smile on your face and get you dancing. Simples.

The Allergies are Bristol’s funksters, and their current single is “Get Yourself Some” with “I’m On It” on the B side.

“Get Yourself Some” is a soul-infused stomper.  That Hammond organ blasts through this track and immediately gets your shoulders shifting.  On the flip side, “I’m On It” is back to the more traditional Allergies funky fare with vocals by Dr Syntax and Skunkadelic. This is pure funk with saxophone and bongos combining to produce this full-on party track. That bassline drives the funkiness through the roof. And the vocals go back and forth between the two UK hip hop heavyweights.

During lockdown the duo DJ’d from their respective homes every week and it had me dancing around my living room. Rackabeat and DJ Moneyshot also had a 30mins slot on Craig Charles Trunk of Funk on 6Music and my neighbours must have wondered what on earth was going on as I was freaking out in my kitchen…

Long time collaborator Andy Cooper is hip-hop vocalist on previous tracks such as “Blast Off”, “Fade Away” and “Rock, Rock”.  He is the master of vocal gymnastics. How the heck he sings so fast I have no idea!

The Allergies are on the Jalapeno Record label which also houses fellow funksters Smoove and Turrell, and Flevans. Their fourth album Say The Word is full of these funky floor fillers and has guest appearances from The Cuban Brothers, Dynamite MC as well as those already mentioned.

If you like your music fast and funky, you are totally gonna dig this!
