Dead Horse, but No Need to Flog as Feral Woman Is a Stomper

Is that frogs croaking and insects buzzing at the start of Dead Horses new single “Feral Woman”?  The atmosphere is one of the Delta, with almost a rockabilly rhythm and a grungy bluesy backdrop.  A wild swaggering song which played live would absolutely get the crowd moving. The dirty garage guitars and beat of the drums create an image of the swamp, and you just want to stomp around in it.

Dead Horse have already gained some traction with debut single “Flesh Mountain” and had been invited to play several sweaty gigs around their hometown of London until COVID-19 put paid to those plans.

Their debut EP Dead Horse was released in April and comes in at just under 14 minutes, but boy does it leave you breathless. Formed in 2019 when frontman Kevin Lennon (bass/vox) returned to London from Brighton and hooked up with long time bandmates (Rumour Mill/Kids From K Hole) Duncan Clark (drums) and Josh Kemp (guitar). They have a mutual interest in garage rock/punk, and that is completely reflected in their music, which is dominated by raucous rock n roll.

I have absolutely no doubt that with music like this Dead Horse will pick the reins up again when it is safe to do so, and I for one will be right down the front…
