Nobody Trailer Has Awesome John Wick Vibes

I’m a huge fan of the John Wick franchise. I think they’re some of the best pure action movies ever made, and I can’t wait for the fourth one to come out. Unfortunately, that next installment is still more than a year away, so we’re going to have to wait a while. But we’re not entirely out of luck. In just a few short months, we’ll be getting Nobody, an action movie that looks like a John Wick rip-off in the best way possible.

Starring Bob Odenkirk, it’s about a family man named Hutch Mansell who used to work as some sort of assassin, and something has pulled him back into that world. We don’t know much about the plot beyond that, but that’s enough to get me interested. I love the idea of a legend returning to his field to show that he’s still got it, and it seems like this movie is going to take that idea and run with it.

But an action movie can’t rely on an intriguing premise alone. It has to give us some cool action too, and this red band trailer promises to deliver the goods. Nobody looks like it’ll have everything an action fan could want. There will be guns, cars, hand-to-hand combat, and some creative uses of various objects as weapons.

In particular, that scene on the bus looks amazing. When Hutch empties his gun and tells those hoodlums, “I’m going to f*** you up,” you know you’re going to be in for a fun ride. And then when the fight actually breaks out, it does not disappoint. Unlike a lot of movies these days, it appears that the action in this one won’t be obscured by too much shaky cam or too many cuts. You’ll be able to see the fights clearly, and that’s always a huge plus.

On top of all that, there’s one other thing about this trailer that really intrigues me: Bob Odenkirk playing an action hero. This is not at all the kind of role he’s known for, so it’ll be interesting to see how he does in it. Will it be too far outside his wheelhouse, or will he show us that he actually has a lot more range than anybody expected? He seems really good in the trailer, so hopefully he’ll be just as good in the rest of the movie.

As of this writing, Nobody is scheduled to hit theaters on April 2. It’s been pushed back a few times already, so let’s all cross our fingers and hope it meets its current release date and we get to see this movie soon!

So what do you think of the trailer for Nobody? Do you agree with JP that it promises scratch that John Wick itch? Let us know in the comments! And if you’re looking for horror trailers we’ve got you covered!
