The Old Metal Bar-Steward Has Returned

The Old Metal Bar-Steward has returned. That’s right, those eagle-eyed…er…eared among you would’ve noticed that there wasn’t an episode of The Old Metal Bar-Steward last week. This was down to the fact that I managed to throw my back out, just by moving too quickly. Yes, I am that ancient. But I’m all fixed now and a week off has recharged my batteries, so I’m ready to go.

Before I get into the nuts and bolts of the show, it seems that James Kottack, or at least somebody pretending to be him, took offense at the things I had to say about him last time out. Well, if you’re reading this Mr. Kottack, I stand by every word. But, as I am nothing if not fair, I’m willing to offer you the chance to come onto the show and express your opinions on the world and, to prove to you that it won’t be a hatchet job on my behalf, I’ve got an impartial moderator lined up to stop it descending into a shouting match. And if that doesn’t convince you, then I’m happy for you to bring someone along to make sure that my moderator is calling it down the middle. Interested? Then you can contact me either via the 25YL site, The Ruminations Radio Network site, or on Twitter @WWRuminations.

So, what else do I have on offer this week?

The Debut Of Nutty Nugent Watch

Listen to this episode from The Old Metal Bar-Steward on Spotify.

First up, your Old Metal Bar-Steward looks at the sad news of the passing of Jim Steinman, before finding immense humor in Morrissey getting his feelings hurt by an episode of The Simpsons. Then it’s time for a brand new weekly segment called “Nutty Nugent Watch” where I look at all the crazy bullsh*t that falls out of Ted Nugent’s mouth and laugh at him. This is followed by me, once again, agreeing with Dee Snider about Iced Earth’s Jon Schaffer, plus I hype the killer cover version of Alice Cooper’s “Go To Hell” that he did with Zakk Wylde. Then, I take a closer look at Wednesday 13’s comments about his friend, Marilyn Manson, before reporting on Alice Cooper’s struggle with COVID. I tell the right-wing nutjob from Staind to fuck off and take his sh*t new song with him, and definitely don’t encourage a barrage of bottles so thick they block out the sun to greet Machine Gun Kelly when he steps out on the Reading and Leeds stages, no sirree Bob. Rob Zombie’s working on a new Munsters movie, Bruce Dickinson’s taking his one-man show on the road, and Babymetal seem intent on fleecing their fans for as much money they can. A trick they no doubt learned from KISS, who are trying to flog you an official Demon costume for nearly $3,000. There’s news of the lineup for Download 2022, Anthrax are building to a 40th anniversary live stream. Finally, some poor kid got named Korn by mistake.

As always, if you’re easily offended then The Old Metal Bar-Steward is probably not for you. You should know that the opinions expressed here are mine and mine alone, and in no way reflect the opinions or thoughts of 25YL Media or The Ruminations Radio Network. But if you have a sense of humor, then the next 29 minutes should brighten up your day. I’ll be back in a week’s time with more of my musings. Until then, stay safe and stay metal, you filthy animals.
