Venom: Let There Be Carnage Trailer Gives Fans Exactly What We Want

Venom was one of the biggest and most surprising smash hits of 2018. A lot of people didn’t think it could work without Spider-Man, but those fears ended up being overblown. Sure, the film had its fair share of problems, but on the whole, most fans thought the good outweighed the bad, and we’ve been eagerly awaiting the sequel, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, ever since it was announced.

We finally got our first trailer for the highly anticipated film this past week, and it’s everything we hoped it would be. It doesn’t tell us much about the plot, but like a lot of superhero trailers these days, it doesn’t have to. It hooks us in by taking everything that worked about the first film and ratcheting it up to eleven, and if the movie is even half as good as it looks we’re in for a real treat.

In particular, there are two things that really stand out to me about the Venom: Let There Be Carnage trailer. First, we have the comedy. Venom looks to be assimilating pretty well into human society, and it’s hilarious. For example, who would’ve thought that we’d ever get to hear an alien symbiote singing a Fred Astaire song from the 1930s? I know I never did, but now that I’ve heard it, I don’t know how I ever lived without it.

Secondly, there’s the titular villain, Carnage, and he’s absolutely terrifying. Woody Harrelson plays his human host Cletus Kasady as a deranged and slightly Hannibal Lecter-esque psychopath, and when we finally get to see the evil symbiote in all his glory, he’s the stuff of nightmares. Not only does he look like he can and will kill you in about thirty different ways, but his scenes in this trailer also have a pretty overt horror vibe. It looks like Venom: Let There Be Carnage is going to have some legitimately frightening moments, and as a big horror fan, I can’t wait to see just how far the film takes its scares.

This is definitely one of my most anticipated movies of the year, and thankfully, we only have to wait a few more months till it’s finally here. Venom: Let There Be Carnage hits theaters on September 24.

So what do you think of the trailer for Venom: Let There Be Carnage? Do you agree with JP that it’s exactly what fans wanted to see? Let us know in the comments! And if you’re looking for horror trailers we’ve got you covered!
