Special guest Ben Cahlamer pitched hosts Will Johnson and Don Shanahan of the Cinephile Hissy Fit podcast on dipping our hands into the cinematic baptismal font that is body of works from Hollywood New Wave filmmaker Paul Schrader. Last episode, Ben contributed to a discussion on Schrader’s latest film The Card Counter. Don played referee for that one, but he’s back in to complete the trio on Paul’s last film from a few years ago.

For their 29th episode, 25YL film critics, faith-challenged dads, and rocksteady school teachers Will and Don cap off a guest host double with Phoenix-based film critic and podcaster Ben Cahlamer. First Reformed challenges The Card Counter as the better film. It ranks high on two out of three lists of the talking heads here on the show. All agree that Ethan Hawke was robbed at the Oscars. Pass the holy water and come listen for more. This one gets spiritual.
