I’ll never forget the day when I had an email from Carmen Ejogo’s publicist asking me if I would be interested in interviewing her. It was in the lead up to Emmy nominations that year and while she ultimately wasn’t nominated, there was a lot of buzz surrounding Carmen Ejogo at the time.
True Detective Season 3 had been a masterpiece, lead first and foremost by amazing acting. Ejogo stood out even amongst her talented peers and her character in many ways was the heart and soul of a standout season of television.
To say that I was flattered to get the opportunity to interview Carmen Ejogo in the lead up to Emmy nominations would be an understatement. The conversation, published on TV Obsessive, was nothing short of amazing. We had a lot to dive into in terms of the show, the eras in which the show took place and a lot more. Carmen spoke freely, not reserved or held back in the slightest. She was obviously proud of the body of work and had no reservations about getting deep into the details with me.
To this day, this interview remains a career highlight of mine. I admired Carmen’s work a great deal as well as the show and getting to pick this artist’s brain was a genuine thrill. You can read the interview on full at this link here.
