Interview: Actress/Director Deborah Voorhees

Deborah Voorhees is a woman of many talents. Most known for her role in Friday the 13th Part 5, where she has one of the most iconic death scenes in franchise history, Deborah Voorhees is much more than a breathtaking beauty- she had a brilliant vision for spring boarding her Camp Crystal Lake fame into something more.

In my exclusive interview with Voorhees, we discussed at length her idea for 13 Fanboy, an old school inspired slasher that was based off real life stalkers obsessed with horror icons. Truly a terrifying idea when you think about how often horror icons are at conventions and how hands on they are with their fans. Any one of them could be a stalker who wants to turn their favorite slasher into a real life tragedy.

When Deborah Voorhees and I sat down to have this discussion, the film was in its earliest stages. (It’s now released and currently available to stream on Showtime and Paramount Plus). It’s fascinating to go back and revisit the journey this film went on – where it started and where it wound up. Truly a great story where many horror icons came together to make a film for the fans they love.
