In September of 2019, I was invited by HBO to join other journalists for a conversation with series co-creator Mark Duplass and Executive Producer Sydney Fleischmann, prior to the third season of Room 104 premiering on HBO. As a long time fan of Duplass and admirer of the show, I was excited for the invite and the chance to participate in what would wind up being a thrilling conversation.
Room 104 had been a critical darling for HBO but never really broke out the way the anthology series had the potential to. The third season had been rumored to be a horror driven season and Duplass would confirm that rumor in the call. I remember being most impressed with how down to earth Duplass was and how he seemed like he actually wanted to talk to us, instead of feeling like he was forced to do this and was just trying to get through it. It’s rare to feel like someone wants to do one of these media day seasons.
There were a lot of cool questions and answers here and a lot more rewarding than other media days I had been a part of. All of the credit in the world to Mark Duplass for that. The full story can be found on TV Obsessive at this link here.
