Freddy vs Jason: A Roundtable Discussion

In the world of horror, no film was discussed and dreamed about more than Freddy vs Jason. The idea for the clash of the franchise titans had been discussed dating back to the late 80’s and when New Line Cinema purchased the rights to the Friday the 13th franchise, we all thought it was finally going to happen. Little did we know that it would take almost two decades longer to finally happen.

Can a film live up to 20 years of expectations? The reviews to this day are mixed. Freddy vs Jason to some was a gateway horror film. To others, a letdown. To a third group, a fun hour and a half. These mixed reactions all these years later inspired me to host a roundtable discussion on the film. I always enjoyed it but didn’t love it but found the polarizing reactions to be interesting. What kind of conversation could come from a group of horror beat writers discussing the film?

I think this conversation has held up well over the years. It’s currently published on Horror Obsessive and you can read it at this link here. Let me know what you think of both the conversation and the film!
