Round 2 of the Buffy/Angel Character Tournament: Vote For Your Favorites!

Thanks to everyone who voted in Round 1 of the Buffy bracket. We’re doing a 64 character tournament styled after the NCAA’s March Madness, with each round of matchups pitting characters against one another for your voting pleasure. How you decide who to vote for is up to you, whether you think the character is better (whatever that means) or just your favorite between the two. The point is it’s fun!

In Round 1 we had four polls, one for each quadrant of the bracket. From here forward it will just be one poll a week, giving you 16 matchups to vote on here in the round of 32, and so on.

Round 1 was fairly predictable, with the top seeds coming through unscathed and a couple of close ones in the middle of the bracket. Many were sad to see Principal Snyder paired in an unwinnable match with Drusilla and Phantom Dennis equally against Anya, which was indeed a shame. Perhaps a glimpse behind the curtain would be helpful.

This bracket was created by a group of writers who are all fans of Buffy and Angel independently coming up with lists of 64 characters. These were then ranked based on how many lists each character was on, with deliberation of what felt right when it came to more nuanced questions of seeding. The matchups were then generated based on those seedings. You can find the numbers (1 through 16) listed by the names in the polls themselves, if you’re interested in such a thing.

Regardless, things only get tougher as we enter Round 2. I put this thing together and I am just as mad as you are about seeing Fred up against Darla, Dru up against Anya, and many of the other matchups here. Of course, we’re just getting going, and things will only get harder to decide as we get to later rounds of the tournament. That’s the fun of it!
