Breaking Down the Scream 7 Trailer

The day is finally here, the first Scream 7 trailer is out! If you haven’t seen it already, you can watch it at this link & then after you watch it, read on for some of my thoughts and initial impressions.

I’m Gonna Burn It All Down

This trailer features Ghostface, Sidney, her husband and daughter Tatum, Gale and the Meeks twins. We also see that the Macher house is now an Airbnb, complete with crime scene drawings on the floor where bodies were found in the original film and a robotic Ghostface in the corner. Makes total sense right? Perfect weekend getaway for the horror / true crime fanatic in your life. We see what appears to be the actual Ghostface sneak up behind a woman and a traditional Scream chase scene ensues. Was this real and Ghostface decided to go back “home” or was it part of the experience? On the surface, it seems like an actual Ghostface attack but anything is possible with Scream.

The Scream 7 trailer heavily focuses on Sidney and her daughter Tatum. We heard a voiceover discussing how people die just for being friends with Sidney (which doesn’t make me feel great about her husband’s chances at survival, as well as the twins) and Tatum tells Sidney that she wants to be a fighter like her. Ghostface tells Sidney over the phone that he won’t hurt Tatum until Sidney can see it. This makes this particular Ghostface’s issue with Sidney feel especially personal. Adding to the personal nature is a line from Ghostface where he tells Sidney that her new town reminds them “of where they grew up”.

The Scream 7 trailer ends with several random characters in perilous states and then an image of Ghostface, gas can in hand, burning down the Macher house with the voiceover saying “I’m gonna burn it all down”.

While there were no signs of Dewey, Stu or Roman, there’s clearly a heavy focus on Sidney’s past here. These attacks are increasingly personal and there’s a fixation on the Macher house. All signs are pointing towards Stu but is that misdirection? Scream 7 is in theaters on February 27th, 2026.
