As a fan of horror, comedy, musicals, and any combination thereof…is it any surprise to anyone that I love Scooby-Doo?
The answer should be as obvious as my orange shirt as I interview Neil Fanning: the actor, writer, producer, stunt performer, stunt safety supervisor, voice actor, and more who starred in Scooby-Doo (2002) and Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed (2004)…as Scooby-Doo!
I usually introduce my interviewees…but Fanning surprised me by kicking off the interview with an awesome intro of his own! We talked about the many surprises of the casting process, having a variety of skills that come in handy at the most random times, ad-libbing in a film that has both animation and live action, a question I’ve always wanted to ask anyone who’s played Scooby-Doo, and more.
Fanning also tells stories about how much he enjoyed working with the films’ writer James Gunn, director Raja Gosnell, and the live action cast of Freddie Prinze, Jr. (Fred Jones), Sarah Michelle Gellar (Daphne Blake), Linda Cardellini (Velma Dinkley), and Matthew Lillard (Shaggy Rogers), plus Rowan Atkinson (Emile Mondavarious).
Jamie Lee – Neil Fanning Interview (“Scooby-Doo”)

We discussed Neil Fanning’s wide and varied career as an actor, voice actor, stunt performer, stunt safety supervisor, and more starting at Warner Bros. Movie World all the way up to the present…and into the future!
Among the scenes Neil Fanning shares fond memories of is this “Scooby Snack” scene from Scooby-Doo (2002)…
Scooby-Doo | 1 & 2 Collection: Scooby Snacks | Warner Bros. Entertainment
Laughs and scares aplenty are unleashed in two popular live-action/computer-animation romps featuring Fred (Freddie Prinze Jr.), Daphne (Sarah Michelle Gellar), Shaggy (Matthew Lillard), Velma (Linda Cardellini) and that canine you-know-doo. Mystery Inc. reunites in Scooby-Doo to solve the ghostly goings-on at Spooky Island Resort.
Thank you to Neil Fanning for this interview and the awesome intro. Special thanks to Scooby Addicts, whose in-depth interview with Fanning further informed my questions.
