Blue Rose Task Force Podcast Digs Into Laura’s Funeral in Twin Peaks Episode 3

Laura Palmer’s funeral gets the deep-diving spoiler-filled treatment this week as the Blue Rose Task Force Podcast explores Episode 3—the fourth overall installment of Twin Peaks—using the full context of Twin Peaks from 1990 to 2017.

The biggest scene of the episode takes place at the funeral service, when Bobby Briggs publicly goes off on the entire town’s complicity in Laura’s death. The podcast looks closer at Bobby’s character, and how Laura made him into the person who can explode like that, but that’s not nearly all that’s covered this week.

A major level of Twin Peaks mythology is introduced here when Harry tells Cooper about the presence in the woods and introduces the Bookhouse Boys who stop it. The podcast discusses the two levels of the town of Twin Peaks, the physical and the metaphysical, and what it means that characters in the town know about its magical side. Then the microscope goes over Cooper, and why he is so adept at operating under such wonderful and strange conditions. And why Cooper may actually be under the sway of it.

Listening to the podcast, you’ll also hear a case for why Albert is right, however gruffly he explains himself. You’ll also hear how Audrey may be more innocent than she thinks, and how the town seems to protect itself from tragedies.
